June is National Safety Awareness Month

Observed annually by the National Safety Council (NSC), National Safety Month focuses on saving lives and preventing injuries, from the workplace to anyplace. The National Safety Council is the nation’s leading nonprofit safety advocate. Their mission is to eliminate preventable fatalities in the workplace, on the road, in our homes, and in our communities.

Now, more than ever, safety is crucial both inside and outside the workplace. This year, NSC has chosen the theme SAFER: Safe Actions for Employee Returns. SAFER is a multifaceted effort aimed at helping employers prioritize safety as they return employees to traditional work environments post-quarantine.

This year’s theme will shine a spotlight on pressing topics, including:

  • Mental Health

  • Ergonomics

  • Building a Safety Culture

  • Driving

Creating a safe workplace and building a safety culture are the most important steps in preventing workplace injuries and accidental deaths.

We encourage employers to join us in bringing awareness to workplace safety during the month of June. Visit the National Safety Council website to learn more.
